Retaliation

Updated: Mar 26, 2019

I nose around your patch

You do not want me there

Big and tough the way I see

I’m welcome everywhere

Think that you can stop me

Word to the wise: beware

No quarter for the innocents

There’s pain enough to share

Engage an old antagonist

A score unsettled still

Give comfort to their enemy

An act of earnest will

Acknowledging defeat, retreat

Always the bitter pill

The drums of war so hard to beat

Preying man, tis time to kill

You took back what I stole from you

A touchy situation

Seems the adult thing to do

Is get retaliation

rEjected the puppet

After decades of plunder

Such impudence

Can lead one to wonder

Just who decides

Whose boot to live under

With each forward charge

A colossal blunder

Ply you with weapons

And Bibles and cakes

Overcome the past

With brand new mistakes

Kind of amazing

The effort it takes

To gain an advantage

How much one forsakes

You took back what I stole from you

A touchy situation

It seems the adult thing to do

Exact retaliation

If you prick me

Do I not bleed

If you shred me

Do I not rend

Try to trick me

It’s guaranteed

You will find me

Not as your friend

Disguise civilian transport

As a militant attack

No choice but destroy it

Agony the missiles track

290 civilians

Blown apart into the sea

More retaliation for

Defiance successfully

You took back what I stole from you

A touchy situation

Seems the adult thing to do

Is get retaliation

Retribution overdue

Hatred’s solid foundation

As more enmities accrue

Realize retaliation

Realize retaliation

Realize retaliation

Realize retaliation
